What is Severance Negotiation?
Severance pay is something that is occasionally given to employees upon termination of employment. Most of the time it’s based on the employees salary and the length of time the employee was employed. This can range from 1 week of pay all the way up to a full years salary.
While severance pay is not required by employers, it is something that is agreed upon between an employee or an employer.
Severance packages can be negotiated, so if you’ve been let go and offered a severance package, it could be worthwhile to have an attorney look over it to help you negotiate a better package.
